What is Self-Service Password Reset?

Self-Service Password Reset (SSPR) is a security feature that enables you to reset your password without having to contact the IT Service Desk for help. You will also be able to quickly unblock yourself and continue working no matter where you are or the time of day.

Resolution

  • On your laptop or desktop, begin the user registration process by visiting the SSPR User Portal at: https://aka.ms/ssprsetup.
  • Enter your MCC e-mail address and click Next.

  • Enter your password and click Sign in.
  • If prompted, verify your log in attempt with your MFA authentication method.
  • If you are prompted to stay signed in, click No.

You will be presented with three different options. At least two must be configured, but it is recommended to set up all three. In this document, all three will be explained.

  • Next to the Authentication Phone, click on Set it up now to continue.

Authentication Phone

  • Select your country code and type in your phone number. You can choose either text me or call me.
  • See below for both options.

Authentication Phone – Text me

  • Click text me.
  • You will receive a six-digit code that you will input into the text box.
  • Click verify to move on.

Authentication Phone – Call me

  • Click call me.
  • You will receive an automated call. Answer your phone and press # to continue.

After authenticating with your phone

  • You will be brought back to the don’t lose access to your account page.
  • Next to the Authentication Email, click on Set it up now to continue.

Authentication Email

  • Enter your email address. Click email me.

 Note: This cannot be your Macomb Community College email address.

  • Open your email you sent the code to in the previous step.
  • Copy your unique one-time code.

  • Put the code into the text box on your computer. Click verify.

  • You will be brought back to the don’t lose access to your account page.
  • Next to Security Questions, click on Set them up now to continue.

Security Questions

You must add all five security questions. You can choose between the 20 pre-defined questions. Be sure to choose questions and answers that are memorable.

  • Type your answers in. You will get a green circle with a check mark when your answer is of acceptable length.
  • When you are done, click save answers.

  • You will be brought back to the don’t lose access to your account page.
  • If you would like to make any changes, click Change next to the area you would like to update.
  • Once you click finish you are all set.
